How to adjust your Manis Acetate frames for a better fit. Each pair of our frames comes with spring loaded hinges to help with a nice comfortable fit but everyone’s face/head is unique. Your frames might require some adjustments to fit more comfortably. When you purchase frames from an optometrist they make these micro adjustments for you but you can easily make these adjustments on your own. Follow the instructions below, take your time, making small adjustments until you get the perfect fit.
The instruction below call for the use of a hair dryer to heat the frame up but if you do not have a hair dryer you can use a bowl of warm water to submerge the frame for 30 to 40 seconds. This method can make it a bit harder to heat up a specific section of the frame but just make sure to only bend the frame where you want to make your adjustment.
Alternatively if you do not feel comfortable making these adjustments many optometrists will make these adjust your frames for free or for a small charge if you ask really nicely.
Feeling loose behind the ears?
Using a hair dryer to heat the part of the frame that goes over the ear for 30 seconds to soften that part of the frame only. Bend the arm slightly using gentle downward pressure to make it sit closer to your ear.
Arms too tight over the ear?
Using a hair dryer to heat the part of the frame that goes over the ear for 30 seconds to soften that part of the frame. Bend the arm slightly using gentle upwards pressure to move the arm off the back of the ear.
Unbalanced – One lens is higher than the other?
If the frames are sitting crocked on your face even though the arms sit even on a flat surface your ears might just be uneven or the frame arms might need a slight adjustment. Nobody is perfect. You can try bending the arms at the hinge slightly or using the same method to heat up arm on the opposite side for the lens that is higher for 30 seconds and slightly bend the arm using gentle downward pressure. If the right lens is higher bend down the left arm, if the left lens is higher bend down the right arm.
The bridge is pinching your nose?
If the nose is too tight you can make heat up the center bridge for 30 seconds with a hair dryer and slightly bend the nose section wider. This adjustment should only be made after you have adjusted the arms and you don’t want to bend the nose out too far or the arms will start to turn outward too much and not square.
The bridge is too wide?
If the nose is too wide you can make heat up the center bridge for 30 seconds with a hair dryer and slightly bend the nose section narrower. This adjustment should only be made after you have adjusted the arms and you don’t want to bend the nose out too far or the arms will start to turn inward too much and not square.
End of arm too tight on back of head?
The end of the arm might be turned inward too much, putting pressure on your head. Using a hair dryer heat the arm for 30 seconds at the ear bend and using gentle pressure push the end of the arm out.
End of arm pushing on outside of ear?
The end of the arm might be turned outward too much, putting pressure on the outside of your ear. Using a hair dryer heat the arm for 30 seconds at the ear bend and using gentle pressure push the end of the arm inward.
